Online therapy or online counselling, also called Skype therapy, e-therapy, e-counselling, internet counselling, is sometimes a more convenient way of having counselling and psychotherapy. If you are not able to come to the clinic either in Central London or in Reigate, Surrey, I also offer online therapy. In this case, online therapy refers to therapy that takes place using Zoom, an online meeting platform, similar to Skype.
Online therapy is carried out in a similar way to face to face therapy. We will discuss the way in which we could work together during the initial assessment session. This could be, for example, having a specific goal to work on or a more open-ended agreement to process feelings that may be stuck. Take a look at my services page here.
Unfortunately, online therapy is not suitable for all types of difficulties as sometimes more support is needed. These kind of situations are, for example, if there is a risk of harm to yourself, someone else, and/or child protection issues.
I am very happy to offer a FREE 15 min consultation to discuss whether online therapy would be suitable for you. Even if Zoom is a good secure platform for online therapy, I would like you to be aware that 100% confidentiality cannot be guaranteed online.
US laws require psychological therapists being registered with professional bodies in the State that their client resides. Therefore, unfortunately, I am not able to offer counselling if you are living in the U.S.A.
What do I need to get started with online therapy?
You can attend online counselling from the comfort of your own home or any other place where you have a good internet connection. It is best to be as close to a router as possible. Using earphones and a mic set can be handy and help to eliminate external noise. Zoom is a very easy platform to use. Once we have agreed to start online counselling, I will send you a link to the meeting on an agreed date and time, and some pre-appointment paperwork.
